During the last few weeks there has been a great amount of activity regarding CHLCGA entering a team in County Match Week 2016. Initially the Committee voted to withdraw from the event on the basis that there were not enough players available to commit to fielding a team. This action prompted a number of people to express their views over the Committee decision.

Following on from this, Jacquie Richardson (President), Sue Hill (Team Manager) and Cindy McIntyre (2nd Team Captain) met with a number of County Squad players after the Division 1 meeting at Bourn. An open and frank discussion took place regarding the way forward for CHLCGA’s county teams and at the end of this discussion Marcella Tuttle and Sarah Greenall agreed to attend a meeting with evidence that a team could be brought together to enable us to enter County Match Week 2016.

Once the revised availability was reviewed and it was evident that we would be in a position to put together a team, the Committee were asked if they would be in favour of reversing their original decision. This has now happened and there was an overwhelming majority in favour of sending a team to County Match Week 2016.

We are now pleased to confirm that a fully committed and enthusiastic team will be representing Cambs & Hunts at County Match Week, which will take place at Bishops Stortford GC in the week 20-‐ 24 June 2016.

Whilst we are currently focusing on selecting and preparing the team ready for county match week in June, a number of lessons have been learnt from recent events. Once this year’s match week is completed, the County Squad Committee will meet to start planning how best we can move forward to develop, support and strengthen the county squad and move forward into the future with confidence.

Finally, it would be really great if you could come along and give the team your support during this year’s County Match Week – we would all be delighted to see you there wearing something light blue.
