Ella’s just Champion
In cool blustery conditions the Links Newmarket provided a tough challenge for the seven competitors in the 36 hole Junior Girls Golf County Championship. In the morning Ely City’s Ella Mason continued the good form she had displayed at the Ladies Championship two weeks earlier, as she posted a score of 79 to take a seven shot lead over the rest of the field
In the afternoon round Ella played a solid round of 80 and her total gross score of 159 gave her a winning margin of seventeen shots. Morgan Tritton (Gogs) had two consistent rounds of 87 and 89 for a total of 176 to finish in second place. Ella’s victory saw her qualify for the Daily Telegraph Junior Championship,
Natasha Bamford (Ely City) won the prize for the best morning round with an excellent gross score of 86 and Morgan Tritton (Gogs) won the prize for the best afternoon round with a gross score of 89.
The Handicap Cup was won by Girton’s Jessica Hollingsworth (Girton) with two excellent rounds of 73 and 71 for a total nett score of 144. Second place went to Ella Mason with rounds of 72 & 73 for a total nett score of 145.
In the 18 hole Stableford competition Lila-Bella Nacca (Kingsway) scored a steady 32 points to win the trophy.
The 9 hole stableford competition was won by Imogen Longstaff-Biggs (Bourn) with a score of 12 points.
The Biddy Wade Trophy for the most improved player, with a score of -20 shots under par for her four best scores of the year went to Ella Mason, with Olivia Dyson (Barkway) and Jessica Hollingsworth (Girton) in second place with a score of -19.
